The main causes of asthma include – environmental allergens like dust, pollen, insects and domesticated animals are the leading triggers of asthma, outdoor air pollution has also emerged as a problematic trigger.

According to WHO estimates, in the United States, there are approximately 8.3% of people suffering from asthma of which approximately 250,000 people die prematurely each year from asthma.

Success story of treatment of asthma using naturopathy and yoga

Naturopathy is holistic rather than a compartmental way of treating and managing a condition. It works to eliminate the cause and reduce the severity of the disease.

Naturopathy is simply based on a belief in the body’s ability to heal itself. This practice of a natural approach to health and healing involves treating diseases with natural modalities or earthly ingredients like water, fresh air, nutritional diet, herbs, etc.

The doctors have had success treating bronchial asthma using Nature cure therapy, Diet therapy, and Yoga therapy.

The therapy consisted of:

  1. Chest pack (applied from 30 minutes to an hour once or twice a day depending upon the clinical condition of the patient)
  2. Hot foot and arm bath
  3. Partial massage therapy to upper back and chest
  4. Fomentation
  5. Asthma Bath
  6. Oxygen Bath
  7. Steam and Sauna Bath
  8. Enema, Steam Inhalation
  9. Drainage therapy

What foods to eat: Go for nutrition-packed foods rich in calcium, non-mucus as well as non-acid generating food-items. Herbal concoctions such as tulsi water, pudina tea, etc are good. Have lots of water.

Just remember, avoid all foods that are known to increase the production of mucus: Red meat, milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, butter, eggs, bread etc.
